EXPERTISE SUMMARY
Brandon has been in active practice since being admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam in 2022.
Brandon currently has a wide array of experience concerning regulatory and compliance aspects of Brunei law in relation to data protection, intellectual property law, anti-competition, sale and purchase of shares, construction, IT service contracts, and employment matters.
Commercially, he has provided advisory services to multi-national investment firms pertaining to capital markets, statutory bodies on compliance with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), an international automotive manufacturer on biometric collection, licensing requirements and the implementation of a Digital Vehicle Manual, and acted for a local director in a share sale and purchase transaction concerning trustee companies incorporated in the British Virgin Islands and Labuan.
Nevertheless, Brandon’s true passion lies in advocacy and he possesses burgeoning interest in contested civil and criminal litigation.
In civil claims, he has acted for Malaysian offshore marine vessel providers, major regional pharmaceutical companies and publicly listed foreign companies.
In criminal cases, he takes an active role in cases pertaining to a wide breadth of offences ranging from capital drug offences, money laundering, and anti-corruption laws.
He seeks to fearlessly defend his client’s best interests with fairness and integrity, always within the ambit of the law.
He is highly competitive and well decorated, having recently been a YSEALI (Young South East Asian Leadership Initiative) fellow, selected by the US Embassy to Brunei Darussalam for an exchange programme in the United States where he advocated for the rights of the underprivileged and marginalized.
Brandon was also one half of the first international team since the inception of the ECC-SAL Moot in 2023 to reach the grand finals and was awarded “Best International Team”, triumphing over numerous decorated lawyers from the Big Four law firms in Singapore on the way there.
Brandon repeated this feat in 2024,where he was heralded the “Best Oralist” in a competitive field of international talent, the first ever from Brunei Darussalam.
