Eugene graduated from the University of London in 1993 and has been in active practice since 1996 when he was admitted to the Malaysian Bar. From 1996 to 2005, Eugene’s practice in Malaysia saw him handling a wide variety of litigation work ranging from Banking and Commercial litigation/disputes, Landlord and Tenant, Family & Succession matters amongst other things.
Eugene continued to be active in the same areas of practice when he arrived in Brunei in October, 2005 to date. He acted on behalf of Brunei Darussalam’s current biggest Islamic bank in the early process of the merger of 2 of Brunei Darussalam’s Islamic banks in 2005/2006. He was also actively involved in the aircraft modernization exercise of the national carrier in 2006/2007 resulting in Brunei Darussalam being the first airline in South East Asia to operate the Boeing B787 Dreamliner which arrived in 2013.
In 2019/2020, Eugene successfully represented an oil and gas company on a breach of contract matter in excess of B$3.4 million.
Eugene also handles contested probate and administration matters and has successfully represented his clients on their claims.
